Democrats don’t believe the rules apply to them anymore.
They are pandering to protesters at the expense of law-abiding citizens.
A top Democrat just confessed he broke the law for Black Lives Matter.
Many in New York City weren’t happy when the Black Lives Matter street art popped up around the city.
Bevelyn Beatty, a black woman, was detained and arrested by police for dumping paint on the Black Lives Matter mural painted on the street outside Trump Tower.
“Black Lives Matter. Black Lives Matter, right?” Beatty said on video. “For the black people. This is for the black people. They’re destroying business for black people. They’re looting for black people.”
“No,” she added. “No. We’re not standing with Black Lives Matter. We want our police. Re-fund our police.”
What makes the whole situation worse is that the Black Lives Matter street art wasn’t permitted to be there.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio allowed city officials to skip the permitting process for Black Lives Matter.
“That is something that again transcends all normal realities because we are at a moment of history when that had to be said and done, that’s a decision I made,” de Blasio told reporters.
In other words, de Blasio thinks that the rules apply to other people and not to him.
He may feel like Black Lives Matter is important, but others may not share his views, that’s why there’s a permitting process.
Women for America First, a pro-Trump group, filed a lawsuit claiming that their proposed mural was held up while Black Lives Matter artwork appeared all over.
Blue Lives Matter has also not been allowed to put up murals.
“We haven’t said ‘no’ to people, we’ve said, ‘If you want to apply, you can apply, but there’s a process,’” de Blasio told reporters. “But the normal process continues for anyone who wants to apply.”
The problem is that the normal process didn’t apply to Black Lives Matter.
“Once you open the door and allow Black Lives Matter murals to be on the streets of New York, you can’t now turn down Blue Lives Matter. That would be a violation of the free speech provision of the Constitution,” said civil liberties lawyer Norman Siegel.
De Blasio has also made it clear that protesters would not have to obey the same laws as churches or other activities protected by the First Amendment.
But de Blasio knows that his best hope to escape criticism is to be radically on the left.
Andrew Cuomo said that he could have removed de Blasio for how badly he handled the protests.
Instead of taking the steps to keep his people safe, de Blasio broke the rules to paint some woke messages on the roads.
