Ilhan Omar picked a fight that she’s going to live to regret.
The controversial Congresswoman recently gave a speech to a Muslim advocacy group where she made some jaw dropping comments about 9/11.
That’s when Dan Crenshaw stepped up shut down Ilhan Omar with this one tweet.
Last month, Omar delivered the keynote address for the Council on American Islamic Relations- Los Angeles fundraiser.
During her remarks, Omar claimed CAIR was founded after 9/11 because “some people” did “something.”
Omar waiving away the 9/11 terrorist attacks shocked and appalled many Americans.
Texas Republican Congressman Dan Crenshaw captured this sentiment when he tweeted, “First Member of Congress to ever describe terrorists who killed thousands of Americans on 9/11 as “some people who did something.”
Omar’s defenders raced to her side.
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez smeared Crenshaw as being an unpatriotic fraud who ignored the needs of 9/11 victims.
Ocasio-Cortez tweeted back at Crenshaw, “You refuse to cosponsor the 9/11 Victim’s Compensation Fund, yet have the audacity to drum resentment towards Ilhan w/completely out-of-context quotes. In 2018, right-wing extremists were behind almost ALL US domestic terrorist killings. Why don’t you go do something about that?”
Americans could not believe that Ocasio-Cortez went there.
Crenshaw is a decorated military veteran.
He served as a Navy Seal and lost his right eye in Afghanistan when an IED exploded.
Questioning his patriotism or his commitment to 9/11 victims – after he volunteered for military service in the years following the attack – should be a mark of shame for Ocasio-Cortez, and a signal to many Americans just how depraved Omar’s defenders are.
But Ocasio-Cortez was not the only Democrat leaping to Omar’s defense.
Controversial Michigan Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib joined the fray.
Tlaib – who is no stranger to controversy due to her connections to anti-Semites – only poured more gasoline onto the fire.
Tlaib deployed the tried-and-true left-wing tactic of smearing your critics as racist when you have to defend the indefensible.
“They do this all the time to us, especially women of color. They do that. They take our words out of context because they’re afraid, because we speak truth. We speak truth to power,” Tlaib said in an interview with NBC
“My sister Ilhan Omar, what she was talking about was up lifting people by supporting their civil liberties and civil rights,” Tlaib also told NBC. “She has always, always condemned any kind of strategy, especially of a person that is directly impacted by being a refugee herself. She sees what terrorism can do. She sees what violence can do to a whole country, to a whole people.”
The pathetic level of excuses – smearing a disabled war veteran as unpatriotic and any critics as racist – only underscores the depth of Omar’s troubles.
There are very few boundaries left in American politics that one should not cross.
And dismissing 9/11 as just “something” and minimizing the murders of 3,000 innocent Americans should be one of them.
