Democrats are in for a rude awakening. Defunding the police and other divisive issues have consumed them recently, but defunding Democrats might be closer to Americans’ minds. The drop-off in funding for Democrats comes as Republicans surge ahead.
While touting the increase in their fundraising during the second quarter of 2020, the Democrats proudly announced they had already raised three times more than the entire last redistricting cycle.
The election of state legislatures in 2020 will determine to redistrict next year and into the 2022 cycle. The direction and control of the U.S. House of Representatives may depend on them for the next decade.
“The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee and affiliated organizations announced $30 million raised for this cycle at the end of this quarter, already three times the amount raised in the entirety of the last redistricting cycle,” the committee announced in a press release Tuesday, July 7.
“In the second quarter of this year, the DLCC shattered its previous second-quarter fundraising record by raising over $5.8 million, nearly $2 million more than it raised in the same quarter in 2018. This comes after the DLCC reported the best first-quarter fundraising in its history.”
It sounds impressive when viewed as a separate issue; however, it fades in comparison when looked at side by side to Republicans fundraising.
The drop-off in Democrat Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) fundraising leaves Democrats far shy of their $50 million declared cycle-long goal.
Meanwhile, Republicans raised almost double the amount of that raised by Democrats in the second quarter.
In a press release published on July 1, the Republican State Leadership Committee announced it had raised $10.5 million in the second quarter, reportedly bringing its total for this cycle to $35 million.
“Placating the woke Left’s tirade against America may play well on Twitter and cable news, but it looks like anarchy is too tough a sell for liberal enablers like the DLCC to persuade donors to keep contributing to their radical mission,” Lenze Morris, the national press secretary for the RSLC, told Breitbart News.
“Defunding the police, overreaching economic shutdowns, and shaming those who are proud of their country—it’s all a bridge too far for Americans, and state Democrats right now own every bit of this ludicrous agenda,” she said.
“Thanks to record-breaking fundraising and grassroots energy, Democrats are primed to flip state legislatures across the country,” DLCC president Jessica Post said. “It’s truly never been more important to elect Democrats to statehouses as the country faces a pandemic and a worsening economic crisis thanks to GOP incompetence. Democrats will have the resources necessary to win state legislative races ahead of the fight against gerrymandering.”
Despite Republican’s incredible fundraising success, which puts Democrats to shame, they still try to claim victory.
Defunding Democrats may become the new catch cry.
