Florida man arrested and accused of killing ‘peeping Tom’ to death

A Florida man is behind bars and charged with manslaughter after catching a peeping Tom outside of his window and beating him to death.

Victor Van Vickery, 30, of Delray Beach, faces a manslaughter charge in the death of 57-year-old Asaad Akar in the incident that occurred in July of last year, according to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.

Vickery told police he was in bed with his girlfriend when they heard a sound at a window, which they had previously heard during times of intimacy and had reported to police.

Vickery said he went outside and saw Akar, who had a prior criminal record for prowling, standing partly naked by the window. While  Vickery’s girlfriend called the police, a fight then broke out between Vickery and Akar.

When police responded to the scene, they found Asaad Akar, 57, bloodied and unconscious on the ground. Akar was taken to an area hospital after the altercation but died in the hospital from his injuries less than two hours later.

Vickery was jailed on $100,000 bail while he awaits trial.
