Democrats led by Nancy Pelosi are targeting Attorney General William Barr like never before.
But their plans are backfiring.
Barr’s strongest ally just slammed Democrats for doing the unthinkable.
The fallout over Robert Mueller’s report showing the Trump administration engaged in no collusion with the Russian government during the 2016 election continues.
And the Democratic Party is living in a fantasy land.
Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and the followers in Washington remain delusional about the outcome of the Mueller investigation.
And they’re now turning their sights on President Trump’s Attorney General, William Barr.
The Daily Caller reports, “The House Judiciary Committee voted 22-12 to hold Barr in contempt of Congress after the attorney general refused to turn over the full, un-redacted Mueller report to the committee.”
There’s just one problem.
Barr isn’t alone in his defense.
“Republican Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan criticized House Democrats Wednesday after the House Judiciary Committee voted to hold Attorney General Bill Barr in contempt,” adds the Daily Caller.
And Jordan isn’t holding back either.
The Ohio Republican tore into Democrat Jerry Nadler, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, for his blatantly partisan assault on the Attorney General.
“Bill Barr’s following the law, and what’s his reward?” Jordan asked. “Democrats are gonna hold him in contempt.”
“Jordan, the ranking member of the committee, claimed that Democrats want to ‘destroy’ Barr because they are worried that he might investigate how the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election began,” adds the Daily Caller.
The move to target Barr came about because Democrats led by Nancy Pelosi realized they couldn’t destroy Trump directly since the Mueller report confirmed that he and his campaign engaged in no collusion with the Russians in 2016.
So the next best target is President Trump’s Attorney General.
“Democrats are nervous he’s gonna get to the bottom of everything,” Jordan said. “He’s gonna find out how and why this investigation started in the first place.”
“Jordan was referring to Barr’s testimony in front of the Senate Appropriations Committee last month where the attorney general said that he believed ‘spying did occur’ on Trump’s 2016 campaign and that the Justice Department would investigate it,” adds the Daily Caller.
Nadler’s plot to take down Barr was supposed to go off without a hitch.
But Republicans, led by Jordan, aren’t letting them get away with it without a fight.
And now the battle over Barr has turned into a larger debate over Democratic attempts to undermine the Trump White House even after Robert Mueller cleared the President of any wrongdoing in 2016.
But Democrats simply can’t accept the truth, so they’re determined to make things up as they go.
“The attorney general has been transparent and accommodating throughout this process, including by releasing the no-collusion, no-conspiracy, no-obstruction Mueller Report to the public and offering to testify before the Committee,” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement. “These attempts to work with the committee have been flatly rejected.”
“Faced with [House Judiciary] Chairman [Jerry] Nadler’s blatant abuse of power, and at the Attorney General’s request, the President has no other option than to make a protective assertion of executive privilege,” she concluded.
